EMPLOYMENT GENERATION

livelihood activities - village to market initiatives - micro-loans/credits - first time access to financial institutions

Employment and livelihood opportunities are essential for societies that have faced war as they provide economic stability, reduce poverty, foster social cohesion, facilitate reintegration and rehabilitation, and contribute to sustainable development. They reduce the vulnerability of the poor and war-affected societies to further economic shocks and uncertainties. They provide them with the means to meet their basic needs, such as food, shelter, healthcare, and education without having to rely on others.  Additionally livelihoods provide individuals the chance to rebuild their lives, regain their independence, and contribute to the growth of their communities.

1. TRADITIONAL AND INNOVATIVE LIVELIHOOD MODELS:  Through faith-based and other development organizations, Truth to Power funds multiple partners doing both traditional and innovative livelihood programs, understanding that every rupee earned not only provides for basic needs but also allows the families  to be productive members of their community.

2. VILLAGE -TO-MARKETS INITIATIVE:   Vulnerable communities who do not have land, machineries, finance or any other resources do not participate in markets or value chains as core members of economic enterprises. They are often found working as independent and seasonal traders and  migrant labors. They live on subsistence farming or handouts and are dependent on the government’s social safety nets. Many of them are living with disabilities or are abandoned by their families. The Village2Markets initiative removes the barriers that exclude the poor and strengthens the local ecosystem that connects to profitable markets, lifting up thousands of people through economic inclusion.
